Advanced Japanese is designed to be an extension of the Japanese 30 course by following the Japanese 6Y Curriculum in the Program of Studies.  This course will be based primarily on independent study where the student is required to attend classes and study much of the material on his/her/their own with the assistance of the teacher.  The course will align with year five of the Japanese and Culture Program of Studies 6Y curriculum.

It is expected that students will use various Japanese learning textbooks and websites to assist with their daily studies.  It is also expected that once a students has complete this level of Japanese, he/she/they will be able to take the 5th level of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test.

Please let me know well in advance if you are to miss any classes. Excused absences do not excuse any work assigned. Students who are late or absent are responsible for any work missed. Seminar time MUST be used to catch up on missed quizzes, tests and projects. Students who do not utilize these opportunities will be assigned to the Directed Learning Room (DLR) after school.

I advise you to do regular review. 15 minutes a day will significantly improve your retention of new material introduced in class. Your ability to use hiragana, katakana and kanji is essential in this course. Try to develop a system of regular review. がんばりましょう!!
